Blauvelt, NY (5/8/07) Dominican College baseball players Jose Made and Peter Gilardo have been named to the All-CACC Baseball Team in a vote conducted by the conference's head coaches.
Made, a sophomore from Binghamton, NY, was selected
to the All-CACC First Team for the second consecutive year.
He is having another solid year after being named the 2006 Rookie
of the Year, sporting a .357 average, starting 33 games this year
at shortstop. He is tied for first on the team with nine
doubles, three triples and four home runs this year, while leading
the team with 46 hits and 36 RBIs. He is ranked in the top
twenty in the CACC in batting average and is a perfect 10-10 in
stolen bases.
Gilardo, a senior catcher from Cornwall, NY, has
been selected to the All-CACC Second Team for the fourth straight
year. He has a .311 batting average in 32 games with 29 runs
scored and four home runs. He is ranked third in the
conference in throwing out runners with 16 on the season.
Gilardo is ranked 29th in the CACC in batting
average and has been a captain of the Chargers for the last two
years. Last week, he exploded for three home runs in two
victories of Bloomfield College.
The Chargers finished the regular season with an 18-17 overall
record and a 9-7 CACC record. Dominican, who has won five out
of the last CACC Tournaments is ranked fourth in the upcoming CACC
Baseball Championships and will take on #1 Caldwell College on
Thursday at Wilmington College. Game time is 3pm.
