Waterbury, CT (4/12/06) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header from the Eagles of post University this evening. The Chargers won the first game 6-1 and the second 9-2 to improve to 24-11 overall and 12-1 in the CACC.

Waterbury, CT (4/12/06) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header from the Eagles of post University this evening. The Chargers won the first game 6-1 and the second 9-2 to improve to 24-11 overall and 12-1 in the CACC.
The game was knotted at 1-1 until the Chargers scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to take 5-1 lead. DC added another run in the seventh for the final 6-1 score.
Senior left fielder Mike Zani (Goshen, NY) went 2-4 in the game, while Eliezer Nunez (Brooklyn, NY) went 2-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. First basemen Jose Escalera (Bronx, NY) went 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Pitcher Daniel Bucci (Dobbs Ferry, NY) picked up his fifth win of the season, scattering four hits over seven innings and striking out nine Eagles.
In the night cap, Dominican scored runs in the first four innings as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead.
Shortstop Jose Made (Binghamton, NY) went 2-3 with three runs scored and an RBI in the win. Designated hitter Chad Duesler (Northville, NY) had a perfect 3-3 game, hitting a two run homer in the third inning, with a run scored and two RBIs. Second basemen Keith Gebert (Brooklyn, NY) went 2-3 with 2 RBIs.
Armando Tavarez (Bronx, NY) got the win, allowing two runs and striking out four batters to improve to 4-2 on the year.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Philadelphia University in a CACC double header, slated to begin at 12pm at Veteran's Memorial Park.
