Charger Baseball Upends Bloomfield College, 3-2
Blauvelt, NY (4/11/06) The Dominican College baseball team improved their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record to 10-1 and their overall record to 22-11 after defeating Bloomfield College, 3-2 this afternoon in a CACC game held at Veterans Memorial Park.

Blauvelt, NY (4/11/06) The Dominican College baseball team improved their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record to 10-1 and their overall record to 22-11 after defeating Bloomfield College, 3-2 this afternoon in a CACC game held at Veteran's Memorial Park.
Bloomfield took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning as Lino Mariot (Perth Amboy, NJ) led off the inning with a walk. On an attempted pick off play, the pitcher over threw the ball and it rolled to the fence as Mariot raced around to third. Designated hitter Webster Zachery (Hamden, CT) hit a sac fly to center, which brought in Mariot. Dominican pitcher Matt Dilgen (Staten Island, NY) regrouped and got the next batter to strike out and the next batter to fly out to right field to end the inning.
The Chargers had a chance to score in the bottom of the fifth when Tom Keegan (Dickson City, PA) reached on a two base error by the left fielder. Designated hitter Chad Duesler (Northville, NY) hit a fly ball to center to move Keegan to third. Right fielder Sean Brown (Massapequa, NY) walked, followed by senior Mike Zani (Goshen, NY) getting hit to load the bases. Freshman Jose Made (Binghamton, NY) hit a long fly ball to center to end the inning as Bloomfield held on to the 1-0 lead.
Dominican took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when Duesler got a two out single to right field. Frank Maynard, Jr (Brooklyn, NY) came in to run for Duesler and on a 0-1 pitch Brown belted a two run homer to left field to lift the Chargers to a 2-1 lead.
The Deacons answered back with a run in the top of the eighth when Zachery got a one out walk, stole second base and came around to score on the two out triple to center field by Nick Cucchiearella (Katonah, NY) to knot the game at 2-2.
In the bottom of the eighth, Made led off the inning with a single to center and was sacrificed over to second by second basemen Keith Gebert (Brooklyn, NY). Senior center fielder Eliezer Nunez (Brooklyn, NY) came through with a big two out RBI single to right field to put the Chargers back in front, 3-2.
Dilgen improves his record to 3-2 on the year with complete game win and recorded six strikeouts, while Deacon pitcher John Anderson (Manville, NJ) drops to 2-2 on the year.
DC is back in action tomorrow evening when they travel to Post University for a CACC double header slated to begin at 6pm in Waterbury, CT.
