CACC RELEASES CURRENT STANDINGS IN RACE FOR 2010-11 RESTAINO CUPS

New Haven, CT (3/31/11) The Philadelphia University men and Holy Family University women lead the standings for the 2010-11 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Alfred R. Restaino, Sr., Cups through the winter sports season. Dominican College is second in the men’s standings, while Philadelphia is next on the women’s side.

New Haven, CT (3/31/11) The Philadelphia University men and Holy Family University women lead the standings for the 2010-11 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Alfred R. Restaino, Sr., Cups through the winter sports season. Dominican College is second in the men’s standings, while Philadelphia is next on the women’s side.

The 2010-11 men’s and women’s cups will be awarded after the spring season to the institutions that perform the best across the board in CACC regular-season and post-season play. The point system used for the award takes into account each team’s finish in both the CACC regular-season and conference tournament. Each school receives a combined point total, which is divided by the number of sports the institution sponsors.

Philadelphia sits in first place for the men with 11.7 points after strong showings in soccer, cross country and basketball. The basketball team finished second in the South Division regular-season standings. In the fall, the cross country team placed second at the conference championship and the soccer team advanced to the semi-finals of the CACC Tournament.
 
Dominican stands second with 11.3 points. The Chargers won the CACC Soccer Tournament championship and were the No. 3 seed in the North Division for the conference basketball tournament.
 
Bloomfield College moved from fifth place to third in the standings after an outstanding basketball season, during which the Deacons won the conference tournament and regular-season championships and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite 8. In the fall, BC played in the soccer tournament championship game and was the regular-season champion.  The top-five for the men is rounded out by the University of the Sciences and Wilmington University.
 
Holy Family took over first place in the women’s race after capturing a basketball regular-season championship and advancing to the conference tournament championship game. The Tigers also played in the soccer and volleyball tournament championship contests. Furthermore, Holy Family was the No. 3 seed for the women’s tennis tournament in the fall.
 
Philadelphia stands second with 11.4 points. The Lady Rams qualified for the CACC basketball tournament and won a conference title in cross country. PhilaU also advanced to the volleyball tournament semi-finals and claimed a spot in the CACC soccer tournament.
 
Wilmington and Dominican are tied for third with 10.375 points. Wilmington placed third in cross country and won the regular-season championship in soccer, while also qualifying for the volleyball tournament. The Chargers finished second in cross country and earned a spot in the soccer, volleyball and basketball conference tournaments.
