CACC RELEASES CURRENT STANDINGS IN RACE FOR 2008-09 ALFRED R. RESTAINO, SR. CUP

New Haven, CT (12/30/08) - Philadelphia University leads the women's standings and Caldwell College and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia are the men's co-leaders in the race for the 2008-09 Alfred R. Restaino, Sr. Cup. The standings include results from the 2008 fall season for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sponsored sports. The 2008-09 men's and women's trophies will be awarded after the spring season to the institutions that perform the best across the board in CACC regular-season and post-season play.  The Cougars and Devils lead the men's standings with 11 points each, while the Lady Rams lead with 12.6 points.

The point system used for the award takes into account each team's finish in both the CACC regular-season and conference tournament. Each school receives a combined point total, and that total is divided by the number of sports the institution sponsors.

The Cougars and Devils are tied with 11 points as a result of Caldwell's finish in men's soccer and USP's performance at the cross country championship. Caldwell won the soccer regular-season championship and advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament, while USP finished second in cross country. Post University won the soccer tournament championship and Felician College finished first in cross country. The rest of the standings include Dominican (10), Philadelphia (8.5), Holy Family and Felician (8.25), Bloomfield and Wilmington (8), Post (6.75), Goldey-Beacom (4.5), Nyack (4.25) and Chestnut Hill (3.5).

Philadelphia leads the women's standings on the strength of championships in both cross country and tennis. The Lady Rams were finalists in the soccer and volleyball tournaments and captured the soccer and tennis regular-season championships. Georgian Court is close behind in second place after winning the soccer and volleyball championships. Furthermore, the Lions finished second in cross country and fourth in tennis.

The rest of the women's standings include Holy Family (10.1), Felician (8.75), Nyack (8.6), Caldwell (8.25), USP (7.9), Wilmington (7.8), Post and Bloomfield (6), Dominican (5.9), Goldey-Beacom (5.8) and Chestnut Hill (3.8).
