#16 LADY CHARGERS FALL TO #7 PACE UNIVERSITY IN OT
Pleasantville, N.Y. (2/21/26) The Dominican University New York women's Lacrosse team dropped their season opener by a score of 10-9 in overtime.
The Lady Chargers, #16 in the IWLCA, fall to 0-1 on the season while the Setters, #7 in the IWLCA, improve to 1-0.
Dominican jumped out in front after ending the first quarter with three straight goals. Dominican outscored the Setters 3-2 in the second quarter as they held a 6-5 lead by halftime.
The Lady Chargers scored the first three goals of the third quarter extending to a 9-5 lead but the Setters scored before the end of the quarter closing the DU lead to 9-6.
Pace shutout the Lady Chargers 3-0 in the fourth quarter and scored the tying goal with 2:04 remaining to push the game to OT.
In OT, Maddie Schubert scored her third goal of the game to seal the victory for the Setters at the 5:09 mark.
DU goalkeeper Daniela Parisi made 13 saves in the game while Pace keeper Elsa Branco made seven saves.
Rylie McGhan scored a hat trick to lead the Lady Chargers in goals. Camryn Grella and Kate Frae each finished with two goals, while Dani Cox and Madison Mileti each scored one goal. Cox picked up one assist while Mileti recorded a team-high four assists. Mileti also picked up two groundballs.
Savannah Eichert, Emily Murtha, and Jenna Rigo each picked up two groundballs. Rigo led the way in caused turnovers with four.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Saturday when they visit Southern New Hampshire University.
