San Rafael, Calif. (3/7/26) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team wrapped up their California trip with a 14-13 loss to the Nighthawks of Northwest Nazarene University.
The Chargers fall to 1-2 overall while the Nighthawks improve to 2-1.
The Nighthawks scored the first two goals of the game but the Chargers answered with four stright goals to take a 4-2 lead by the start of the second quarter.
The Nighthawks opened the second quarter with three goals before the Chargers ended the run on Steven Dupras second goal of the game. NNU scored three more goals later in the quarter and Chad Keyser scored his second of the game with 11 ticks remaining in the first half.
NNU took an 8-6 lead into halftime while the Chargers outscored the Nighthawks 3-2 in the third quarter and trailed 10-9 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Both teams traded goals to open the fourth quarter. Dominican scored the next three goals and took a 13-12 lead with 2:46 remaining to play.
NNU tied the game with 1:59 remaing and then secured the win with the game winning goal with four seconds left.
Steven Dupras scored a team-high four goals while adding one assist. Evan Dupras scored three goals and also picked up one assist.
Chad Keyser scored two goals and added two assists while Sean Cosgrove also added two assists.
Ian McDow, Ryan Gonzalez, Zachary Souza, and Jehvoun Byfield each scored one goal.
Michael Aufiero picked up a team-high three caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Nicholas Creisher made 14 saves but suffered the loss.
The Chargers return home on Wednesday for their home opener against UDC at 2:00 PM.
