The Dominican College women's volleyball team opened up the season with two losses to Southern Connecticut State University and Pace University.

New Haven, Conn. (8/25/18) The Dominican College women's volleyball team opened up the 2018 season with two losses at the Southern Connecticut State University Tri-Match held today at Pelz Gym. The Lady Chargers fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-17) to the host and 3-0 (12-25, 15-25, 5-25) to the Setters of Pace University.

Match One:  In the opening match against the Owls freshman outside hitter, Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) paced the team with six kills and eight defensive digs in her first collegiate performance.

Junior Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, Pa.) contributed five kills and a team leading .444 attack percentage, while senior Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas) delivered six digs.

Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had a team leading 11 assists and one service ace and junior Sara Hayward (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) added five assists and one service ace.

Match Two:  Junior Mykalee Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.) had a team leading five kills with Perez adding a team high 10 digs.

Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.) recorded three kills, had a team high .333 attack percentage and nine digs in the loss.

Ainsworth had seven digs and eight assists.

Following the losses, the Lady Chargers are 0-2 on the season.

Dominican returns to action on Monday evening as they travel to non-conference opponent, Mercy College, in a match set to be played at Dobbs Ferry High School.
