MAVERICKS TOP WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

(9/8/15) The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost a non-conference match to the visiting Mavericks of Mercy College, 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 17-25, 19-25), this evening in a match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers drop to 0-5 on the season.

(9/8/15) The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost a non-conference match to the visiting Mavericks of Mercy College, 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 17-25, 19-25), this evening in a match played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the loss, the Lady Chargers drop to 0-5 on the season.
The first set was tied at 11-11 when Mercy jumped ahead with a 6-1 run to claim a 17-12 advantage. DC battled back and later used a service ace from senior Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) and a Mercy attack error to cut the lead to 23-22. MC was at set point, 24-22, when a kill from Kayla Rosario (Hicksville, N.Y.) once again brought them within a point, but a Maverick kill would preserve a 25-23 win.
In the second set, the Lady Chargers used a 5-1 to break a 19-19 tie and put them ahead 24-20. Following a Maverick point, a service error gave DC a 25-21 win and tie the match at 1-1.
The third and fourth sets belonged to Mercy as pulled away 25-17 and 25-19 for the 3-1 match victory.
Junior Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) led all attackers with a career high 17 kills and completed the double-double with 10 defensive digs.
Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) added eight kills, while Kelly Murphy (Evergreen, Colo.) recorded six kills and 15 digs.
Junior libero Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) had a team high 18 defensive digs.
Hallstein finished with a night best 36 assists and 15 digs, while Rosario finished with 10 digs.
Dominican will return to action on Friday as they travel to the Stonehill Skyhawks Invitational. Their first match will be against Dowling College at 4:30 pm
