DOMINICAN FALLS ON DAY TWO OF FLAGLER INVITATIONAL
St. Augustine, Fla. (9/5/15) The Dominican College volleyball team fell to 0-4 overall and losing two matches today at the Flagler Invitational. DC fell to the host, 3-0 (12-25, 15-25, 10-25) and lost to Converse College, 3-1 (18-25, 20-25, 25-16, 27-29) in their last match of the tournament.

St. Augustine, Fla. (9/5/15) The Dominican College volleyball team fell to 0-4 overall and losing two matches today at the Flagler Invitational. DC fell to the host, 3-0 (12-25, 15-25, 10-25) and lost to Converse College, 3-1 (18-25, 20-25, 25-16, 27-29) in their last match of the tournament.
Match One: In the loss to Flagler, junior Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) posted a team best six kills and a .400 attack percentage.
Freshman Kelly Murphy (Evergreen, Colo.) added four kills and three defensive digs.
Senior captain Amanda Hallstein* (Holtsville, N.Y.) had a team best nine defensive digs and 15 assists.
Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) added four digs in the loss.
Match Two: The Valkyries took the first two sets, but the Lady Chargers rallied by jumping out to an 11-3 advantage in the third set an using a kill from Yeoman to secure a 25-16 win.
In the third set win, DC had their best team attack percentage at .222.
The fourth decisive set saw Dominican take a 10-7 lead on a kill from senior Ashley Joyner (Edgewood, Md.). A 5-0 Converse run put them up, 12-10, but the Lady Chargers charged back with a 5-1 run to regain a 15-13 edge.
Later tied at 27-all, two consecutive Valkyries points gave them the 29-27 win and 3-1 match victory.
Murphy had a collegiate high 10 kills and eight digs.
Yeoman and Joyner each had nine kills a-piece in the loss, while Joyner posted a .438 attack percentage and Yeoman finished with a .368 attack percentage.
Kim had a season high 10 digs, while Hallstein had a team high 28 assists.
Dominican will have their home opener on Tuesday night against Mercy College. Game time is set for 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
