WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TAKES DOWN CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Bronxville, NY (10/12/10) The visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers volleyball team defeated the Clippers of Concordia College, 3-0, (25-18, 25-15, 25-12) this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match.
Bronxville, NY (10/12/10) The visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers volleyball team defeated the Clippers of Concordia College, 3-0, (25-18, 25-15, 25-12) this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match.
Tied 13-13 in set one, the Lady Chargers went on a 7-3 run to gain a 20-16 advantage and held a 21-18 lead when setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) closed out the set with four consecutive service aces for the 25-18 win.
Dominican never trailed in the second set as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back en route to the 25-15 set win and 2-0 match victory. DC scored nine of the first eleven points in set three to take a 9-2 lead and extended the lead to 19-9 as they cruised to the 25-12 set win and 3-0 match victory.
Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the team with eight kills on the night. Senior Kerianne Dudley (Nanuet, NY) added seven kills, while setter Ranger led the team with 25 assists and tallied five kills.
Catherine Giordano (Stony Point, NY) also had five kills and libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) had a team leading 16 defensive digs.
Following the win Dominican improves to 12-12 overall and 9-2 in conference play.
DC is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Caldwell College in a CACC North Division clash at the George R. Newman Center. Game time is set for 7pm.
