LADY CHARGERS TAKE DOWN WILDCATS
Newark, Del. (3/28/26) The #20 in the IWLCA Lady Chargers women's lacrosse team handed CACC rival Wilington Univerity their first loss of the season this afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.
The Lady Chargers win their fourth straight game and improve to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the CACC. The Wildcats fall to 9-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
CACC Goalkeeper of the Week Daniela Parisi gets her sixth win of the season in net for the Lady Chargers after making 11 savesin the game.
Dominican opened the game on a five goal run before the the Wildcats got on the board by the end of the first quarter.
Dominican outscored WILMU 4-3 in the second quarter and took a 9-4 lead into halftime.
Madelyn Grella found the back of the net to begin the third quarter but two straight goals by the Wildcats cut the DU lead to 10-6 by the start of the fourth quarter.
WILMU extended their run to six goals as they tied the game at 10-10 with just over six minutes left.
A goal by Camryn Grella gave the Lady Chargers a brief one goal lead before Anastasia Giannoulis tied the game again at 11-11.
Madison Mileti capped off a six goal game as she found the back of the net on a free position shot with 1:22 left which would become the game winner.
Mileti and Madelyn Grella combined for 10 of the 12 DU goals with Mileti finishing with six and Grella adding four. Mileti picked up the only assist on the day for Dominican as well as four draw controls. Alexa Preston scored one goal.
CACC Defesnive Player of the Week Jenna Rigo picked up two groundballs and caused two turnovers. Payton LaVallee led the team in draw controls with five.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesdat when they visit the University of Bridgeport.
