DOMINICAN DOWNS PURPLE KNIGHTS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/14/26) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team downed the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport in a CACC contest on Coach Baxter Court.
The Lady Chargers improve to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play after the win while the Purple Knights fall to 6-6 overall and 4-4 in the CACC.
Dominican opened the game with a 21-point first quarter while holding UB to just five points and never looked back from there as they maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Dominican extended to their largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter which was 24 points and later closed out the 54-34 victory.
Freshman guard Sky Priester went 6-8 from the field as she led the Lady Chargers in points with 12. Dalana Taylor and Isabella Javier each finished the game with eight points. Javier added three boards and two assists while Taylor finished with two boards and a team-high three steals.
Tamia Nunes and Ketura Rutty each finished with seven points. Rutty pulled down a team-high 10 boards and picked up two steals. Nunes provided seven boards and dished out two assists.
Cayla Howard added six points while pulling down eight boards. Howard also picked up a team-high four assists, two steals, and one block.
The Lady Chargers hit the road this Saturday for a CACC contest with the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University.
