LIONS DEFEAT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Lakewood, N.J. (1/10/26) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team lost to the Georgian Court University Lions, 57-55, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played in the Wellness Center.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers now stand at 4-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
An Emma Gribben layup put the Lady Chargers ahead 17-12 with 7:44 left in the second quarter, but the Lions would rally to tie the game with 5:02 left and would close out the half on a 5-4 run to claim a 26-25 edge at the break.
Dominican would rally in the fourth quarter as Ketura Rutty scored a layup and completd the and-one with a free throw to re-take a 55-54 advantage. A GCU three with 47 ticks on the clock lifted them to the 57-55 victory.
Cayla Howard and Rutty led the Lady Chargers with 12 points each in the loss. Rutty added seven rebounds, while Howard added five boards.
Junior Tamia Nunes scored 10 points and pulled down six caroms with Isabella Javier also netting 10 points and four rebounds.
Dalana Taylor pulled down a team best eight rebounds.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday evening when they host the University of Bridgeport. Game time is slated for 5:30pm on Coach Baxter Court.
