JAVIER SCORES CAREER HIGH IN LOSS TO GRIFFINS
Philadelphia, Pa. (12/13/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team fell in conference action this afternoon to the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College this afternoon at the Sargenti Arena in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Lady Chargers fall to 2-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play while the Griffins improve to 5-5 and 3-1.
Dominican held a one-point lead after the first quarter and CHC followed up the opening quarter with a 17 point second quarter and took a 30-28 lead into halftime.
The Griffins used a 28 point third quarter to extend their lead and built a 12 point lead in the fourth quarter which was their largest lead.
Down the stretch, Dominican fought their way back into the game using a 10-2 run over the last 1:47 of play but ran out of time as they fell 75-71.
Junior guard Isabella Javier finished with a career high 24 points by going 10-15 from the field adding two three-pointers from beyond the arc. Javier also dished out a team-high four assists while recording two steals and three boards and scored 11 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter.
Senior Cayla Howard scored 13 points while adding five rebounds. Freshman Ketura Rutty and senior Dalana Taylor each provided a boost off the bench. Rutty scored 11 points while picking up a team-high eight rebounds. Taylor added seven points and seven rebounds.
Dominican outrebounded the Griffins 46-32 and earned 16 second chance points. Dominican scored 36 points in the paint and their bench provided 28 points.
Dominican returns home on Tuesday when they host Southern Connecticut State University on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center at 6:00 PM.
