DOMINICAN DOWNS LIGHTNING IN REGINA RIVERA MEMORIAL GAME
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/30/25) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team downed the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in CACC action in the 12th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Game.
The Lady Chargers defeated the Lightning by a score of 72-53 to earn their first conference win and improved 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the CACC.
The Lightning fall to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the CACC on the season.
The Lady Chargers got off to a hot start in the first quarter extending to a double-digit lead after a 12-0 run.
Dominican followed up their strong offensive first quarter with a 25-point second quarter and held a 43-27 lead by halftime.
Dominican continued to extend their lead in the third quarter and their largest lead came in the fourth quarter which was 27 points.
The trio of Sky Priester, Cayla Howard, and Dalana Taylor combined for 42 points. Priester led the way with 16 points on 7-14 from the field and dished out seven assists.
Howard filled the stat sheet with 14 points while adding nine boards, five assists, four steals and two blocks. Taylor added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Emma Gribben provided nine points off the bench while Ketura Rutty matched a career high 11 boards.
Dominican finished the game with a FG% of 41.9% and held the edge in rebounds 42-32 and points in the paint 36-34. DU added 19 bench points and cashed in 23 points off of 18 GBC turnovers.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday afternoon when they visit Assumption University for a 1:30 PM tip-off.
