Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/1/25) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team shut out the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 4-0, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played on O'Brien Field.
With the win, the Chargers improve to 4-8-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play.
Prior to the start of the game, the team honored seniors: #1 David Arteaga, #6 Henrique Zachello, #7 Oscar Chazalet, #8 Eduardo Moreno Silva, #13 Justin Buzzele, #18 Gaetan Mainaud, #19 Eyob McFarland and #41 Lorenz Utz.
The first score of the game came at the 15:14 mark when sophomore Matheus Xavier scored a goal off the pass from Nicolas Ball for the early advantage and would head into the break with the 1-0 lead.
DUNY struck again in the 54th minute as Chazalet recorded a header goal off the dish into the box from Mainaud. A little over two minutes later, Mainaud struck for a goal off the long punt from keeper Arteaga to extend the lead to 3-0.
The final goal game at 88:33 when freshman Nicholas Pastula recorded a goal, following a pass from Lucas Arouca for the eventual 4-0 victory.
Goalkeeper Arteaga made two saves in the win.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to the University of Bridgeport.
