MEN'S LACROSSE UPENDED BY PURPLE KNIGHTS IN SEASON FINALE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/25/25) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team closed out the 2025 campaign with a loss to the University of Bridgeport on O'Brien Field this afternoon. 

The Chargers battled with the Purple Knights but were not able to take a lead as UB secured the 12-7 win. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Bryce Layton made 12 saves but suffered the loss. Casey Dmochowski made 15 saves and earned the win for the Purple Knights. 

The Purple Knights opened the game with five unanswered goals before Zamar Faith ended the run with 15 ticks left in the opening quarter. 

Dominican outscored the Purple Knights 3-2 in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 7-4 by halftime. 

Two third quarter goals by Nickolas Paletta cut the deficit to two goals twice in the period.

UB took a 9-6 lead into the final frame which was scoreless until the 2:52 mark when UB scored two unanswered goals and later added one more. Zachary Smiley scored the DU seventh goal of the game with 1:36 remaining.

Chad Keyser, James Conklin, and Rocco Albanese each scored one goal. Michael Aufiero led the team in ground balls with seven and caused turnovers with four. 

The Chargers complete the 2025 season with an overall record of 4-11 and a CACC record of 1-7.
