#6 SEED CHARGERS FALL TO #2 SEED LIGHTNING IN CACC SEMIFINALS
Caldwell, N.J. (3/7/26) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team took on the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in the CACC Semifinals hosted by Caldwell University.
The #6 seed Chargers fell to the #2 seed Lightning by a score of 108-92.
Both teams battled in the first half and it was the Lightning who finished the first half on a 22-8 run and took a 52-41 lead into halftime.
The Chargers were led by Javel Cherry and Chance Morrish who combined for 23 points in the in the first half.
The Lightning built a double-digit lead in the second half and a made lay-up by Cherry at 11:25 cut the deficit back to single digits.
The Lightning answered with an 11-4 run to extend their lead back to double digits. GBC continued to build their lead as they extended to their largest lead of the game which was 21 points and solidified the 108-92 win as they earn a spot in the CACC Finals tomorrow.
Morrish finished the game with a team-high 22 points on 8-15 from the floor adding five points from the charity stripe. Morrish also picked up three assists and three steals.
Cherry scored 21 points, including his 1,000th career point, going 8-16 from the field while adding four three-point field goals.
Koi D. Kirk, Jr. scored 19 points while pulling down eight boards and added four assists, both team-highs.
The Chargers finish the season with an overall record of 14-16.
