CHARGERS FALL IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE TO WILDCATS
Newark, Del. (2/28/26) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a loss to the Wildcats of Wilmington University.
The Wildcats defeated the Chargers by a score of 90-81 to improve to 10-18 overall and 6-14 in conference play while the Chargers finish the regular season 13-15 overall and 10-10 in the CACC.
Dominican held a a two point lead at halftime, but the Wildcats outscored the Chargers 52-41 in the second half. WILMU used an 11-2 run to build a nine point lead with over seven minutes left to play.
Dominican fought their way back in the game and a lay-up by Koi D. Kirk, Jr. cut the deficit to 84-81 with 1:59 left to play.
Wilmington then scored the final six points of the game and closed out the 90-81 victory.
The Chargers finished the game shooting 47.8% from the floor as a team. Dominican cahsed in 17 points off of 14 WILMU turnovers while outscoring the Wildcats in the paint 50-32. The Chargers bench provided 30 total points.
Kirk led the way for the Chargers scoring 20 points on 7-15 from the field and went 6-6 from the charity stripe. Kirk picked up nine boards, two assists, and two steals.
Isaiah Honis scored 16 points while pulling down six rebounds and dished out four assists. Reginald Dillard also recorded four assists.
Javel Cherry added 14 points while recording two steals and one block. Dimitre Alston scored 10 points while Elijah Peters and Chance Morrish scored eight points each off the bench.
Peters added five boards and three assists while Morrish recorded a team-high eight assists.
Next up for Dominican is the CACC Quarterfinals next Tuesday.
