WILDCAT RALLY PROPELS THEM TO VICTORY OVER WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/4/25) Despite three players recording career highs, the Dominican University New York women's volleyball team lost a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match to the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University, 3-2, this afternoon in a match played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in CACC play.
WU won the opening set by the narrow margin of 26-24, but Dominican battled back in the second set by going on a 6-0 run and getting back-to-back kills from Savannah Tody and Alexandria De Iasi to take the set 25-21 and tie the match at 1-1.
Dominican dominated the third set, 25-13, to take a 2-1 lead, but the Wildcats used a 25-23 fourth set win to force the decisive fifth set.
Wilmington jumped out a 10-5 lead in the finale, but DUNY fought back with a 6-1 run to knot the score at 11-11. WU was able to close out the set with a 4-1 run for the 15-12 win and 3-2 match victory.
Senior Savannah Tody had a career high 19 kills, a .381 attack percentage and four block assist in the loss.
Trinity Parkin also had a career high with 16 kills and 14 digs, while Alexandria De Iasi added 15 kills and a career high 17 defensive digs.
Junior Layla Shipley had 10 kills, while setter Kaedan Sansted dished out a career high 61 assists and 12 digs.
Libero Haile Comeau recorded 18 digs, while Gabriella Broadus had 12 digs.
The Lady Chargers will return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Post University.
