VOLLEYBALL EDGES CALDWELL COLLEGE

Caldwell, N.J. (10/26/12) The Dominican College women's volleyball squad improved to 20-7 overall an 16-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating host, Caldwell College, 3-2, this evening in a match played at the Newman Center. With the win, the Lady Chargers secured the top seed in the North Division in the upcoming CACC Tournament.

(10/26/12)  The Dominican College women's volleyball squad improved to 20-7 overall an 16-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating host, Caldwell College, 3-2, this evening in a match played at the Newman Center.  With the win, the Lady Chargers secured the top seed in the North Division in the upcoming CACC Tournament.

The Cougars won the first set 26-24, but the Lady Chargers bounced back as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead in set two and never looked back as Kristen Loney* (Pine Bush, N.Y.) ended the set with a kill for the 25-16 win.  Dominican outhit the Cougars .324 to .077 in the second set.

DC took a 7-3 lead to open the third set and got a kill from freshman Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) to close out a 25-20 set win and take a 2-1 match lead.

Caldwell claimed a 25-23 fourth set win to force the decisive fifth set.  Dexter opened the fifth set with four straight service points to put the team up 4-0, but the Cougars came back to tie the set at 5-all.  Dominican went on to outscore Caldwell, six out of the next seven points to re-claim an 11-6 lead and senior Courtney Heard (Ventura, Calif.) ended the match with a kill for the 15-8 win and 3-2 match victory.  The Lady Chargers tallied 11 kills and had a .417 attack percentage in the fifth set.

Dexter led the attack for the Lady Chargers with 15 kills and was one of two players with a double-double, adding 16 defensive digs.

Senior outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, N.Y.) added 14 kills and 15 digs, while Heard and Randi Garrett (Rockledge, Fla.) each added 12 kills in the win.

Loney finished with 10 kills, while libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, Texas) had a team leading 27 defensive digs.

Setter Whitney Ranger* (Ventura, Calif.) had a season high 51 assists and added 20 digs.

N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, N.Y.) had 19 digs.

Dominican is back in action tomorrow afternoon at the Hennessy Center as they take on Wilmington University at 12pm.
