Springfield, MA (9/9/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team dropped two matches today at the Yellow Jacket Invitational Tournament hosted by American International College. DC lost to the host AIC, 3-0 in their first match of the tournament and then fell to St. Mary's University of Texas, 3-0 to fall to 2-4 overall on the season.

Springfield, MA (9/9/11) The Dominican College women's volleyball team dropped two matches today at the Yellow Jacket Invitational Tournament hosted by American International College. DC lost to the host AIC, 3-0 in their first match of the tournament and then fell to St. Mary's University of Texas, 3-0 to fall to 2-4 overall on the season.
Match One: In their first match of the tournament, the Lady Chargers fell to the host, American International College, 3-0 (23-25, 18-25, 15-25).
The lady Chargers quickly took a 4-1 lead in the first set, but the Yellow Jackets came back to tie the set at 7-7 and used a 10-5 run to go up 17-12. Facing set point, the Lady Chargers used an AIC attack error and a kill from freshman Kayla Dexter (Selah, WA) to pull within a point (24-23), but the Yellow Jackets closed out the set with a kill for the 25-23 win. AIC never trailed in sets two or three in the 3-0 match win.
Dexter led the team with nine kills, while junior Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) added eight kills. Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) had a team leading 23 assists.
Match Two: In the second match, Heard led the DC attack with five kills. Dexter finished with four kills, while Ranger finished with 18 assists. Libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) tallied 15 defensive digs in the loss.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow at the Yellow Jacket Invitational where they will take on Holy Family University in a non-conference match and Dowling College.
