WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (9/22/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Eagles of Post University, 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 25-18) this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

Leading 11-10 in the first set, the Lady Chargers went on a 7-5 run to take an 18-15 lead and never looked back en route to the 25-20 victory. DC held a 17-15 advantage in the second set, but a 10-5 run by the Eagles, including three straight points to close out the set gave them a 25-22 victory and tied the match at 1-1.
Dominican never trailed in the third set and built up a commanding 18-8 lead as they cruised to the 25-14 third set win. The Lady Chargers continued on the offensive in the fourth set as they jumped out to a 9-2 lead. A 6-0 spurt by the Eagles, led by the serves of junior Teresea Hodges (San Diego, CA), tied the set at 9-a piece, but DC rallied with a 7-0 run of their own, capped off by six straight service points from setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) to go ahead 16-10 en route to the 25-18 fourth set win and 3-1 match victory.
Freshman Aubrey Latham (Mystic, CT) led the Eagles with 12 kills, while Hodges added nine kills in the loss. Setter Taylor Doyle (Mystic, CT) had 28 assists.
Freshman outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) was one of two Lady Chargers in double figures with 22 kills. Fellow freshman Kristen Loney (Pine Bush, NY) had 10 kills and Ranger added seven kills and a match leading 34 assists.
With the victory Dominican improves to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in the CACC, while Post falls to 2-11 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Thursday when they host New York Institute of Technology in a non-conference match slated to begin at 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
