WOMENS VOLLEYBALL SPLIT HOME TRI-MATCH
Orangeburg, NY (9/19/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball team split a home tri-match this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court. DC lost the opening match to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Philadelphia University, 3-1, but rallied to win the last match of the day in a non-conference clash against Saint Anselm College, 3-0.

DC lost the opening match to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Philadelphia University, 3-1, but rallied to win the last match of the day in a non-conference clash against Saint Anselm College, 3-0.
In their first match of the day, the Lady Chargers suffered a 3-1 (20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-15) loss to Philadelphia University, who are riding a 12 match winning streak. The Rams took a 10-5 lead in the first set, but a 6-3 spurt by DC cut the lead to 13-11. Six consecutive points by Philadelphia extended their lead to 18-11 en route to the 25-20 set victory. Philadelphia never trailed in the second set, as they went on to the 25-16 win.
In the third set with the game knotted at 13-13, the Lady Chargers went on a 8-5 run to take a 21-18 lead. The Rams battled back to tie the set at 21-21, but straight kills from freshman Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) gave DC a 23-21 lead and they hung on for a 25-23 third set win. The fourth set saw the Rams fight back as they jumped out to a 17-11 lead en route to the 25-15 set win and 3-1 match victory.
Heard led the Lady Chargers with 12 kills, while Kerianne Dudley (Nanuet, NY) had seven and setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) had a match leading 34 assists.
In the last match of the day, Dominican charged past the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm College, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-15). Tied at 10-10 in the first set, Dominican went on a 10-6 run to take a 20-16 lead and went on to the 25-22 win. In the second set knotted at 13-13 the Lady Chargers took advantage of a 12-4 run to cruise to a 25-15 set win and 3-0 match victory.
Dudley led Dominican with 10 kills in the victory, while Michelle Klimas (Thornwood, NY) added seven kills and Ranger had a match leading 33 assists.
With the split Dominican improves to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they host Post University in CACC match scheduled for 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
