Wilmington, DE (9/5/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Goldey-Beacom College, 3-2 this afternoon.
Wilmington, DE (9/5/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe, Goldey-Beacom College, 3-2 this afternoon.
Dominican dropped the first two sets by scores of 22-25 and 21-25 before rallying to take the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-15. In set five, DC pulled away with the 15-11 set win and 3-2 match victory.
Freshman outside hitter, Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led all attackers with a career high 22 kills. Fellow freshman Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) added 14 kills, while juniors Yashani Smith (West Haverstraw, NY) had eight kills and Akirrah Cooper (Bronx, NY) contributed seven kills in the win.
Freshman setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) led the day with 56 assists and 13 defensive digs.
With the victory Dominican improves to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the CACC.
