SCAVELLA WINS SHOT PUT EVENT AT VASSAR SPRING INVTIE

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (4/27/25)  The Dominican University New York women's track and field team traveled to the Vassar Spring Invite held yesterday.

Freshman Kenyce Scavella won the shot put event, while finishing second in the discus throw.

Anna Murphy had a fifth place finish in the 400m dash, with Kiana Thomas taking fifth in the 400m hurdles.  Cargill also finished fifth in the 100m dash.

WOMEN'S RESULTS

  • Kenyce Scavella won the shot put event with a throw of 10.44m (34' 3").  Julissa Velazquez took third place wiht a throw of 9.78m (32' 1") and Tori Benson finished in eighth place with a throw of 9.42m (30' 11").
  • Scavella took second place in the discus event with a throw of 33.75m (110' 9"), while Benson finished in seventh place with a throw of 29.75m (97' 7") and Velazquez took ninth place with a throw of 27.81m (91' 3").
  • In the 400m dash, Anna Murphy ran a time of 1:03.76 to take fifth place, while Anjalice Arias finished in 10th place with a time of 1:06.75.
  • Kiana Thomas took fifth place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.72.
  • The 100m dash saw Tiara Cargill finish in fifth place with a time of 13.27.  Lynn Jacob finished in sixth place with a time of 13.39 and Genesis Jimenez took 11th place with a time of 13.79.
  • The long jump event saw Cargill take eighth place with a jump of 4.77m (15' 7.75") and Jimenez take ninth place with a jump of 4.70m (15' 5").
  • Cargill also competed in the 200m dash where she took ninth place with a time of 28.05.  Jacob finished in 15th place with a time of 29.44.
  • Sarai Cruz took 18th place in the 800m run with a time of 2:46.00.
  • In the 1500m run Cruz finished in 19th place with a time of 5:44.84, while Rachel Reagan finished in 23rd place with a time of 6:24.77.

The Lady Chargers return to action next weekend at the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Track and Field Championships to be hosted by Georgian Court University.
