New York, N.Y. (2/18/17) Members of the Dominican College women's track and field team traveled to the Artie O'Connor Invitational yesterday and finished in 13th place overall in the meet held at The Armory Track & Field Center.
Freshman India Haynes (Harlem, N.Y.) had the high finish of the day for the Lady Chargers as she took fifth place in the triple jump with a jump of 10.44m (34 feet, 3 inches). She also took part in the long jump where she placed 19th with a jump of 4.28m (14 feet, 0.50 inches).
Sophomore Kayla Adams (Englewood, N.J.) took 16th place in the preliminaries of the 60m hurdles race with a time of 11.07. Adams also took part in the high jump where she took seventh place with a jump of 1.45m (4 feet, 9 inches).
In the 60m dash prelims, senior Khadijah Cox (New Milford, N.J.) took 15th place with a time of 8.23, while Djazmina Jean-Pierre (Spring Valley, N.Y.) took 19th place wiht a time of 8.50.
Jean-Pierre also competed in the 200m dash where she ran a time of 28.35 to finish in 27th place. Senior Erica Pate (Bronx, N.Y.) finished in 32nd place with a time of 29.32, while Allison Moroney (Pearl River, N.Y.) took 34th place with a time of 29.47.
Moroney and Pate also competed in the 500m dash where they took sixth and seventh place with times of 1:31.80 and 1:32.80.
Sophomore Jessica Graci (Staten Island, N.Y.) had the high finish of 24th place in the 800m run with a time of 2:46.47, while senior Emily Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y. took 25th place with a time of 2:46.52. Jennifer Heller (Butler, N.J.) ran a time of 3:05.43 to finish in 34th place.
Christina Burgos (Staten Island, N.Y.) competed in the 1000m run where she finished in 16th place with a time of 3:55.10.
