Caldwell, N.J. (9/17/25) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team's second half comeback fell just short as the Lady Chargers drop their CACC opener to the Cougars of Caldwell University.
The Lady Chargers fall to 1-2-2 overall and 0-1 in the CACC while the Cougars improve to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
DU goalkeeper Stella Paton made seven saves in the loss while Caldwell keeper Ariana Gaminara made three saves in the win.
Caldwell jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead after goals by Rosio Cardenas in the 12th minute and Ayla fraser in the 31st minute. Melissa Pires and Taina Gervais picked up assists on the goals.
The Lady Chargers were shutout in the first half and did not record shot. At the 68:44 mark, sophomore midfielder Emily Rath put the Lady Chargers on the board with her first goal of the season after being awarded a penalty kick.
Less than two minutes later, at the 70:00 mark, sophomore forward Kendall McGregor found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2 while freshman Penny Knott picked up the assist.
The game remained tied for the next 16 minutes of play until Ana Pinzon scored in the 87th minute to put the Cougars back on top and would eventually be the game winning goal. Ayla Fraser picked up the assist.
The Cougars held the edge in shots and corner kicks while Dominican held the edge in saves.
The Lady Chargers continue conference play this Saturday when they return home to host Wilmington University at 12:00 PM on O'Brien Field.
