Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/10/25) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team edged their non-conference rivals the St.Thomas Aquinas College Spartans by a score of 1-0 this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
The Lady Chargers improve to 1-1-1 overall while the Spartans falling to 0-3 overall.
Sophomore midfielder Sophia Stahl found the back of the net in the 79th minute for the only goal of the game and her first career goal which lifted DU over STAC 1-0.
Jessie Maria sent a forward pass to Nathalia Oliveira who then sent a pass from the right side to just in front of the box which set up the Stahl goal.
Goalkeeper Stella Paton recorded her first win of the season and first shutout win of the season.
Dominican held the edge in shots with 14-9 with 10 shots coming in the first half. DU also held the edge in corner kicks 4-2.
Shelby Parks led the Lady Chargers in shots with three. Oliveira and Nicholette Brunner each added two shots.
STAC keeper Madison Lepage got the start in goal for the Spartans and made six saves.
The Lady Chargers return to action this Saturday to close out their three game homestand as they host the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island at 12:00 PM.
