Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (9/4/25) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team dropped their season opener in non-conference action to the Mavericks of Mercy University.
The Lady Chargers begin the 2025 0-1 overall while the Mavericks get the opening day win to improve to 1-0 overall.
Senior goalkeeper Stella Paton made the start in goal for the Lady Chargers and suffered the loss while making two saves. Hanna Grenier made one save in 8:09 of game action.
Anneliese Becker recorded the win for the Mavericks while making two saves.
Mercy outshot the Lady Chargers 18-4 with Ancksu Dixon leading the way taking a team-high four shots and finished with a hat trick.
Sophomore Katelyn Tierney took a team-high three shots and scored the only Lady Charger goal at the 56:57 mark.
Mercy held the edge in corner kicks with nine including six in the first half.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back this Sunday when they host Queens College for their home opener at 12:00 PM on O'Brien Field.
