LADY CHARGERS TURN BACK SPARTANS
Sparkill, N.Y. (9/15/21) The Dominican College women's soccer team defeated the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 5-1, this afternoon in the third annual "Battle of the 303". With the win, DC takes the 2-1 edge in the annual series and improves to 1-3 on the season.

All six goals in the contest were scored in the first 45 minutes of play. Forward Natalie Cargill (Colon, La Republica de Panama) got things going with a goal just 2:09 into the game off the pass from Danai Chimedza (Atlanta, Ga.). Almost two minutes later, STAC evened the score with an unassisted goal.
In the 25th minute of play Alyana Gonel (Teaneck, N.J.) netted her first of two goals with the assist credited to Gabriella Bedetti (Newburgh, N.Y.) and less than a minute later she found the back of the net again, this time off the dish by Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) to jump ahead 3-1.
Freshman Wysocki recorded her first collegiate goal at the 27:55 mark off the pass from Tara Long (Myshall, Ireland) and midfielder Abby Montera (New City, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring with the game's final goal in the 31st minute off Long's second assist of the day.
Gonel led the way for the Lady Chargers with two goals, while Long finished with two assists.
Starting keeper Lynne Garofalo (Ridgefield, N.J.) played 60:44 in the net, allowing one goal, while Lauren Drummond (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) made one save in the final 29:16.
Up next for Dominican is their opening game of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play when they travel to Post University next Wednesday afternoon.
