Caldwell, N.J. (4/5/21) The Dominican College women's soccer team earned a win in the first round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament over the Cougars of Caldwell University.
The #5 seeded Lady Chargers defeated the #4 seeded Cougars by a score of 3-0 to earn a trip to the conference semi-finals.
Lauren Buchanan (Union, N.J.) and Lauren Drummond (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) split time in net for DC. Buchanan recorded four saves and Drummond recorded two saves.
DC took a total of 16 shots in the game. The Lady Chargers recorded seven shots in the first half and nine shots in the second half.
Both teams played to a scoreless tie in the opening half. The Lady Chargers opened the scoring with three straight goals in the second half on their way to the 3-0 win.
Megan Geary (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) broke the scoreless tie at the 56:55 mark off of a pass from Gabriella Bedetti (Newburgh, N.Y.) who recorded the assist.
At 63:26, DC extended their lead to 2-0 when Sarah Wood (Uniondale, N.Y.) scored an unassisted goal.
Alayna Gonel (Teaneck, N.J.) scored the third and final goal of the game for DC at 76:24.
