WOMEN'S SOCCER LOSE TO UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT

Bridgeport, CT (10/10/09) The Dominican College women's soccer team lost a non-conference game to host University of Bridgeport ranked 17th nationally in the NSCAA/Adidas Poll, 3-0 this evening.

Junior Rakel Hinriksdottir (Akureyri, Iceland) scored the first goal of the match just 10:26 in the contest when she headed home a corner kick from freshman Gabby Trombley (Lydenborough, NH). Five minutes later, Asia Pulse (New Haven, CT) scored her fifth goal of the season off a crisp assist from senior Sofia Hoflin (Ostersund, Sweden). Hinriksdottir scored her second goal of the match at the 20:54 when she hammered home a long shot into the top of the Lady Chargers net.

Lady Charger goalie Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) made six saves in the loss.

With the loss, DC is now 5-5-2 on the year.

Dominican is back in action next Saturday when they travel to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Wilmington University.
