LADY CHARGERS PUSH WINNING STREAK TO NINE STRAIGHT
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/5/25) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to nine games after defeating the Rams of Thomas Jefferson University by a score of 14-8.
The Lady Chargers, #25 in the latest Division II IWLCA Coaches Poll, improved to 10-1 overall and 6-0 in the CACC the Rams fall to 6-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
CACC Goalkeeper of the Week Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made nine saves as she recorded her 10th win of the season in net.
TJU keeper Kalyn Ammerlaan made nine saves but suffered the loss.
The Lady Chargers jumped out in front after Madelyn Grella scored the first goal of the game and then Grace DeStasio scored back to back goals for the early 3-0 lead.
The Rams battled back and both teams went back and forth the rest of the first half as the Lady Chargers took a 6-5 lead into halftime.
A six goal run by the Lady Chargers that lasted from the end of the third quarter to the beginning of the fourth quarter pushed the DU lead to 12-6.
Each team scored two more times before the end of the game and DU secured the 14-8 win.
DeStasio scored a team-high five goals while Grella recorded seven points on three goals and a team-high four assists.
Erica Ortiz scored two goals and recorded one assist. Ortiz also picked up four draw controls, one ground ball, and one caused turnover.
Caitlin Costello scored one goal while recording one assist and three draw controls. Ellie Brouwer and Madison Mileti each netted one goal.
Sydney Strohmayer picked up a team-high five ground balls and caused three turnovers. Erin Carr picked up four ground balls while Jenna Rigo picked up three ground balls.
The Lady Chargers return home next Wednesday when they host the University of Bridgeport on O'Brien Field at 3:30 PM.
