WOMEN'S LACROSSE HONOR SENIORS AT LAST HOME GAME
Hillburn, N.Y. (4/18/15) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team honored their seniors today in a ceremony prior to their final home game of the 2015 season against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Holy Family University.

The ceremony honored seniors: #3 Emily Murray* (Oakdale, N.Y.), #6 Lauren Arnone* (Neptune City, N.J.), #8 Gina Sparaco* (Freeport, N.Y.) and #15 Allison Smithwick* (Commack, N.Y.) who today played in their final home game for the Lady Chargers.
Dominican lost the contest to Holy Family University, who is currently atop the CACC standings, 19-12.
Smithwick tied her season high with five goals in the loss.
Sparaco added four goals, while Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) netted two goals.
Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) had the other Lady Charger goal.
Goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made a career high 20 saves in the loss.
Smithwick scored the first goal of the game less than 30 seconds from the first whistle to give DC the 1-0 lead. The Tigers struck back less than a minute later with a goal and followed three minutes later on a man-up opportunity to take a 2-1 advantage.
At the 24:40 mark, Sparaco tied the game off the assist from Smithwick at 2-all, but a 5-0 HFU run put them in the lead for good as they held a 9-4 lead at the intermission.
The Lady Chargers went 16-21 in clear attempts and were 3-8 on free position shots.
Both teams recorded 23 ground balls, while the Tigers had 22 draw controls to the Lady Chargers 11. HFU also out shot DC, 45-30.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers end the regular season with an overall record of 4-10 and a 4-4 CACC record.
The team has secured the fifth seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament and will be on the road on Tuesday in a first round playoff game.
