LADY CHARGERS FINISH SEASON WITH A WIN OVER WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Newark, Del. (2/28/26) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team finished the season with a 68-66 victory over the Wildcats of Wilmington University.
The Lady Chargers sweep the season series over over the Wildcats after the win.
Both teams battled through the first three quarters and down the stretch of the fourth quarter.
Dominican held a six point lead with over five minutes left to play in the game. Wilmington cut the lead to 60-58 before the Lady Chargers scored five unanswered points to extend to a 65-58 lead with 2:03 remaining.
DU held a 66-63 lead, and a three-pointer by Armani Jackson-Bell tied the game at 66-66 with 17 ticks remaining.
Later after a missed lay-up, Ketura Rutty stole the ball back and was fouled with seven seconds remaining in the game. Rutty knocked down both free-throws to give the Lady Chargers the 68-66 lead which would seal the win.
The Lady Chargers were led by Isabella Javier who scored a team-high 19 points, 11 in the first quarter, while going 7-12 from the floor. Javier also pulled down three boards and picked up three steals.
Sky Priester scored 17 points while adding seven rebounds and dished out four assists. Rutty finished with 16 points while pulling down nine boards and picked up three steals and one block.
Tamia Nunes added a game-high 12 rebounds while dishing out eight assists, a career high, and scored eight points.
Dominican wraps up the 25-26 season with a 7-21 overall record and a CACC mark of 5-15.
