LADY CHARGERS SWEEP SEASON SERIES OVER PURPLE KNIGHTS
Bridgeport, Conn. (2/17/26) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team earned a conference win over the University of Bridgeport.
The Lady Chargers defeated UB by a score of 54-46 and earn the season sweep as they improve to 6-19 overall and 4-13 in the CACC.
Dominican put up 27 first half points as they held a 27-13 lead over the Purple Knights by halftime.
Late the in the third quarter the Lady Chargers extended to their largest lead of the game which was 20 points. The Purple Knights cut the deficit to single digits late in the fourth quarter, but Dominican held off the late push and secured the win.
The Lady Chargers outrebounded the Purple Knights 47-40 while adding 28 points in the paint and 10 points off turnovers.
Freshman Ketura Rutty picked up her fourth double-double on the season with 13 points and 13 boards. Rutty added seven points from the charity stripe going 7-10.
Junior Tamia Nunes had a game-high 15 boards while scoring six points. Nunes also recorded a team-high four steals and dished out three assists. Isabella Javier scored 10 points while pulling down five boards.
Frshman Leticia Watson scored a career high nine points.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday when they host Georgian Court University on Senior Day.
