Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/6/23)  The Dominican University New York women's basketball team has earned the eighth seed in the East Regional of the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament and will take on #1 Assumption University.

Dominican was the winner of the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Championship Tournament and thus earned the conference's automatic bid to the East Regional Tournament.  Eight bids were awarded in the region with champions from the ECC (Daemen) and Northeast-10 (Bentley) joining Dominican in earning automatic selections and the others awarded on an at-large basis.

The Lady Chargers (21-10) and the Greyhounds (24-5) faced off against each other once during the 2022-23 season, with AU defeating Dominican, 82-59, in Laska Gymnasium on November 26, 2022.  The teams have faced each other six times since 2010 with the Greyhounds taking home victories in all six previous meetings.

First Round games will begin on Friday, March 10 at top-seed and hosts Assumption University in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Tip off between Dominican and Assumption is schedule for 5pm with the winner advancing to face the winner of #4 Le Moyne College vs #5 Daemen University.
