Following the loss, the Lady Chargers are now 5-2 on the season.
Graduate student Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.) led three players in double figures with 15 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) contributed 11 points and four rebounds, while Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) added 10 points and four rebounds in the loss.
Forward Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) came off the bench to pull down a team best 10 rebounds and Rylee Carpenter (Shenendehowa, N.Y.) had a career high six points.
Gabriella Aspuru led the Lions with a game best 27 points.
A 7-0 run in the first quarter gave DC the early 13-6 advantage and a layup from Kristen Teklits (New Fairfield, Conn.) as time expired put Dominican up 15-14.
Carpenter converted two free throw attempts with under two minutes left before the break to increase the lead to 29-22, but the Lions closed out the half with a trey to cut the deficit to 31-29 at the intermission.
The third quarter belonged to Molloy as the outscored Dominican 22-13 to go ahead 51-44 heading into the final quarter.
A Latimer three-point bucket with 3:07 left in regulation cut the lead to a single point (59-60), but a 6-0 Lion run gave them some breathing room en route to teh 71-63 win.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday night as they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a road contest at Caldwell University.
