DOMINICAN DOWNS WARRIORS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/9/21) The Dominican College women's basketball team downed the visiting of Warriors of Nyack College, 60-45, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/9/21) The Dominican College women's basketball team downed the visiting of Warriors of Nyack College, 60-45, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

With the win, Dominican improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Nyack falls to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the CACC.

Junior forward Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded the game's only double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, along two steals and two blocks.  Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N.J.), Naabea-Janaan Assibey-Bonsu (Central Islip, N.Y.) and Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) all scored eight points a-piece in the win.

Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) grabbed nine rebounds (seven on the defensive end) and Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y) dished out a team best four assists.

For Nyack, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 13 points, while Angelina DiMarsico added 12 points off the bench.  Raquel Crooke-Losada had a game best 13 rebounds.

The Lady Chargers trailed 6-2 with 6:33 remaining in the first quarter, when a 10-4 run put them up 12-10 with a little over a minute to go.  A three-point basket by the Warriors with 42 seconds left gave Nyack the 13-12 edge.

Dominican countered in the second quarter as they outscored Nyack, 19-7 to pull ahead 31-20 at the intermission. 

The third quarter saw the Lady Chargers take a ten point lead (39-29) with 2:13 to play, but Nyack cut the lead to five late in the quarter to trail 41-36.

DC shot 57.1% (8-14) from the floor in the final quarter to regain a double-digit lead and guide them to the win.

The Lady Chargers are slated to travel to Concordia College this coming Thursday night for a 5:30 pm contest.
