Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/16/18) The Lady Chargers women's basketball team fell in a non-conference game against Merrimack College by a score of 74-53. The game opened the 6th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament and was the home opener for DC.

Both teams played an evenly matched opening quarter by scoring 18 points each. Merrimack took a lead into halftime by outscoring Dominican 24-16 in the second quarter for the 42-34 lead.

Merrimack shot 44.1% from the field in the first half and made 8 of 9 free throws for 88.9%. Mayson Kimball led all scorers with 12 points in the first half and pulled down 4 rebounds. Lindsay Werner and Alyssa Casey each contributed 9 points.

DC as a team shot 42.9% from the field and Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) led the way in the opening half with 9 points.

The Warriors pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring Dominican 19-3. The Lady Chargers outscored the Warriors 16-13 in the final quarter the Warriors were able to secure their third win of the season by improving to 3-1.

With the loss, the Lady Chargers fall to 0-3 early on in the season. Korina Guerra and Alpreshia Parker (Pocono Summit, Pa) each finished with 10 points for DC. Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) contributed 9 points while Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) and Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J.) each finished with 6 points.

Alyssa Casey led the Warriors with 24 points in the win. Mayson Kimball added 17 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. Lindsay Werner added 12 points in the win.

The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back on Sunday when the Regina Rivera Tournament continues as they host Robert Wesleyan College at 1:00 PM.
