TIGERS DEFEAT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Philadelphia, Pa. (12/1/12) The Holy Family University women's basketball team, currently ranked 14th in the recent USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II National Top-25 Coaches' Poll, defeated the visiting Lady Chargers of Dominican College, 74-48, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Campus Center.

With the victory, Holy Family University improves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Dominican falls to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.
Senior guard Lindsey Lopez* (Elmwood Park, N.J.) paced the team with 11 points. Teammate Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, N.Y.) chipped in nine points and three assists.
Nicole Welton (Southbury, Conn.) provided offense off the bench for the Lady Chargers as she scored eight points.
KC Jentzen (Pearl River, N.Y.) and Bianca Harris* (Teaneck, N.J.) each scored seven points and combined for 10 rebounds in the loss.
With the scored tied at 11-all with 11:49 remaining in the half, the Tigers scored 11 unanswered points to go ahead 22-11 and would lead by as many as 20 points. A trey from Welton cut lead to eighteen points with just over two minutes remaining and Holy Family University went into the break with a 40-22 lead.
The Tigers continued on the offensive in the second half, opening the second stanza with a 15-3 run and led by as many as 31 points en route to the 74-48 victory.
DC struggled from the floor, shooting just 29.8% (17-57) for the contest. The Lady Chargers were a little better from the three point arc as they shot 32.0% (8-25).
Dominican is back in action on next Saturday (December 8th) as they host the University of the Sciences on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
