LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL SUFFER LOSS TO ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE AT NYACK TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT
Nyack, NY (11/21/09) The Dominican College women's basketball team lost their final game of the Nyack College Tip-Off Tournament to the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 56-48 this afternoon at the Bowman Gymnasium.

The Lady Chargers opened up the game with a 3-0 lead on a shot by sophomore Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) but that would be their last lead of the game as the Spartans led by as many as eight points in the half en route to a 29-24 lead at the break.
DC shot 34.6% (9-26) from the floor and were 6-14 (42.9%) from three point land in the opening half.
STAC opened up the second half with a 7-2 run to lead 36-26 with just over 15 minutes remaining in regulation. Dominican cut the lead to four (50-46) with 1:36 as senior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) converted two free throws, but that would be as close as they would get as the Spartans closed out the game with a 6-2 run for the final 56-48 victory.
Laskowski paced the Lady Chargers with 12 points. Lent finished with eight points, while sophomore Marley Klunk (York, PA) contributed eight points and four rebounds off the bench in the loss. Guard Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) netted six points with senior Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) and Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) each had five points and combined for seven rebounds.
With the loss Dominican falls to 1-2 on the season.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on December 2nd as they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and have their home opener against Caldwell College. Game time is set for 6pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
