WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SNAPS LOSING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (2/18/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team snapped a six game losing streak by beating the visiting Eagles of Post University, 63-61 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

Dominican held an 11-7 lead with 12:44 left in the first stanza when the Eagles clawed back with a 16-6 run to take a 24-17 lead. Down 32-25 with just over four minutes to go before the intermission, DC went on a 9-4 run, capped off by a trey from Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) to cut the deficit to 36-34. Both team shot well from the three point arc in the first half with DC going 8-16 (50%) and Post finishing 3-7 (42.9%).
Post held a 53-46 lead with 11:24 left in regulation when a Lady Charger run of 14-5 to trail 59-58 with 4:29 to go. An Eagle jumper put them ahead by three but a Lopez bucket, followed by a jumper from Marley Klunk (York, PA) gave DC a 62-61 lead and Klunk finished the game with a free throw for the 63-61 victory.
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, NY) led the Eagles with 17 points, while junior Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, CT) added 15 points, going 3-6 from the three point line. Forward Elizabeth Johnson (Norwich, CT) had the game's only double-double with 14 points and 12 caroms and Aubrey Latham (Mystic, CT) netted 10 points in the loss.
Freshman Lopez led three Lady Chargers in double figures with 17 points off the bench. Senior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) contributed 14 points and four assists, while senior Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) added 13 points. Freshman Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) and Klunk each had a team leading six rebounds in the victory.
With the victory Dominican improves to 11-13 overall and 8-8 in the CACC, while Post falls to 6-17 overall and 2-13 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Georgian Court University in a CACC women's basketball contest scheduled for 1pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
