Wilmington, Del. (3/21/26) The Dominican University New York softball team opened conference play on the road against the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College this afternoon.
The Lightning shut the Lady Chargers out 3-0 in game one and then 8-0 in game two in five innings.
Dominican falls to 1-15 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.
Game One: The Lady Chargers fell to the Lightning 3-0 in game one.
Starting pitcher Emily Baxter threw six innings allowing three earned runs on six hits but suffered the loss.
GBC starting pitcher threw a complete game shutout while allowing two hits.
The Lightning took the lead in the the bottom of the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie after an RBI-single by Chasedy Johnson. GBC extended their lead to 3-0 after a two-RBI single by Rayna Pelcak and thats all the Lightning would need.
Kindel Johnson and Victoria Iorio each finished with one hit.
Game Two: DU starting pitcher Gianna Longo suffered the while GBC starter Lauren Carbonara picked up the complete game shutout and her third win on the season.
The Lightning rallied in the bottom of the first inning jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead. GBC added their eighth run in the third inning on their way to the 8-0 victory and secured the sweep.
Kindel Johnson added a double for her second hit on the day. Adrianna DeValerio picked up one hit while Nicole Mata and Mia Valverde also finished with one hit each.
The Lady Chargers return to action next Saturday for their home opener against Wilmington University at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
