Winter Haven, Fla. (3/1/26) The Dominican University New York softball team lost two games today at THE Spring Games being played at the Diamond Plex Complex.
The Lady Chargers dropped a 9-0 decision to the Griffins of Seton Hill University before falling 5-4 to Saint Anselm College.
Folling the games, Dominican is now 0-4 on the season.
Game One: The Griffins scored a run in the fourth and sixth innings, but a seven-run seventh claimed a 9-0 win.
Shortstop Gianna Longo had the lone hit for the Lady Chargers.
Senior Emily Baxter took the loss in 6 2/3 innings of work.
Game Two: Dominican opened the game with a three-run top of the first inning as Kindel Johnson brought home a run on a double down the left field line and two batters later Emily Angulo scored two runs on a single to centerfield.
The Hawks answered with two runs in the bottom of the first and added two runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 edge.
Dominican tied the game in the sixth on the RBI single to right field for a 4-4 score, but Saint Anselm scored a run on a sacrifice bunt for the eventual 5-4 win.
Angulo went 3-3 in the game with three RBIs.
Johnson and Nicole Mata had two hits a-piece.
Reliever Gianna Barbieri took the loss in two innings of work.
The Lady Chargers return to action at THE Spring Games on Tuesday morning as they take on USF and SMSU.
