#8 SOFTBALL FALLS TO #1 UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT IN CACC FIRST ROUND
Bridgeport, Conn. (4/28/25) The #8 Dominican University New York Lady Charger softball team fell to the top-seeded Purple Knights from the University of Bridgeport, 3-2, this afternoon in a first round contest of the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Championship tournament held today at Seaside Park.
Following the loss, the Lady Chargers end their season with an overall record of 16-28.
Dominican took an early lead in the top of the first inning when freshman right fielder Kindel Johnson blasted a two-out solo homerun over the left field fence-
Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom of the third on a one out double to left field for the 2-1 advantage.
A two-out bases loaded walk to Emily Angulo in the top of the fourth inning retied the game, 2-2, and the score remained that way until the bottom of the sixth when the UB centerfielder hit a one-out solo homerun to left field for the 3-2 edge and eventual win.
Emma Kaszovitz and first basemen Jalaeya LaPorte had two hits each in the loss.
Lady Charger starter Emily Baxter suffered the complete game loss and had six strikeouts.
