Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/28/15) Dominican College softball player, Jillian Regan (Staten Island, N.Y.), has been named the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Year as was announced by the Commissioner Dan Mara. Shannon Haukap* was named to the All-CACC First Team, while Regan, Alyssa Schwed and Elontay Collins earned All-CACC Second Team honors.
Regan, a shortstop for Dominican, had a sensational collegiate debut in 2015 and was rewarded for her efforts by being named the CACC Rookie of the Year. Regan tied for the CACC lead with 37 runs batted in, while she also ranked among the top-five in total bases (3rd, 77), hits (4th, 51), doubles (4th, 11) and home runs (5th, 5). She was also named to the All-CACC Second-Team at her position.
Haukap, a junior catcher from Edmonds, Wash., earns her third All-CACC accolades this season. She was named to the All-CACC Second Team in 2014 and the All-CACC First Team in 2013. She leads the conference in triples, games played and plate appearances, is fifth in runs batted in and tenth in hits. She leads the Lady Chargers in triples, while sitting in second place in hits, runs scored and RBIs. Haukap is also a team captain.
Collins, a sophomore outfielder from San Diego, Calif., makes her second appearance on a All-CACC Team as she earned First Team honors in 2014. She is seventh in the CACC in triples, eighth in runs scored, 15th in slugging percentage and 16th in stolen bases. Collins is second on the team in home runs and third in batting average, hits, runs scored, doubles and triples.
Schwed earns her fiirst All-CACC accolades this season. She leads the Lady Chargers in batting average, stolen bases, runs scored and is second in hits and triples. Schwed ranks third in the CACC in runs scored, fourth in triples, seventh in hits and eighth in stolen bases.
Maska, a freshman pitcher from Warren, Mass., also earns her first All-Conference honors. She is tied for third in the CACC in wins, third in shut outs, eighth in Earned Run Average and 11th in strikeouts.
