SOFTBALL SWEEPS BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

(4/22/13) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked ninth in the East Region, swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Bloomfield College, in games played this afternoon. With the sweep, DC improves to 28-18 overall and 23-1 in CACC play.

Bloomfield, N.J. (4/22/13) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked ninth in the East Region, swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from host, Bloomfield College, in games played this afternoon. With the sweep, DC improves to 28-18 overall and 23-1 in CACC play.
Game One: Bloomfield led 7-3 after five innings of play, but DC rallied with a four-run sixth inning to tie the score at 7-7. Two runs scored on errors, while senior Kathryn Coles* (Farmville, Va.) had an RBI single and Shannon Haukap (Edmonds, Wash.) had a two-run double.
BC regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but CACC Rookie of the Week, Kimberly Ragazzo (Lawrenceville, N.J.), led off the top half of the seventh inning with a solo home run to tie the game at 8-8.
In the top of the eighth, the Lady Chargers tacked on five more runs as Alyssa Schwed (Kinnelon, N.J.) led off the inning with a home run and later two fielder's choices brought home two more runs. The other two runs scored on Deacon errors for the 13-8 run.
Ragazzo picked up the win in two innings of relief.
Haukap went 3-5 with two rbis, while Paige Berzak (Cypress, Calif.) had three RBIs.
Game Two: Dominican scored runs in the first two innings to take a 5-1 lead with Haukap hitting a two-run double in the second inning.
The Lady Chargers added runs in the fifth and sixth innings on RBI hits from Leanna Ferrick (Maybrook, N.Y.) and Berzak for the 7-3 win.
Ragazzo got the complete game win (8-5), allowing three runs in 12 hits.
